About the event
There are thousands of cemeteries in the United States, dating back to the 1600s. Cemetery records document not only the death and burial of individuals, but also the maintenance of the cemetery itself and the history of the local community. Cemetery records are frequently used by genealogists and historians, and have long-term value and requirements. This session will discuss how cemetery record-keeping has evolved over centuries, and where it is likely to go in the future.
